Greyvast, the Sunken Throne

kingdom deprecated Northern Velkaris Age of Grandeur, Year 312
The Sunken ThroneKingdom of the Mist-Dwellers

Greyvast, the Sunken Throne, is a kingdom perpetually shrouded in a cold, ethereal mist, clinging to the fragmented coastline of Northern Velkaris. Its evocative name originates from the cataclysmic impact of a colossal moon fragment during the Celestial Fracture, which caused their ancient capital, once a gleaming citadel, to partially submerge into the churning, icy waters of the Obsidian Sea. Now, the remnants of the city, Mournwater Keep, stand as a testament to both their resilience and their profound loss, with its lower levels forever lost to the dark depths. The people of Greyvast are known as the 'Mist-Dwellers', a melancholic but fiercely independent folk who navigate their perpetually damp, fog-choked lands with an uncanny sense. They have become master salvagers, dredging fragments from the deep and trading rare, bioluminescent flora that thrives in the magical fallout of their sunken territories. Unlike Valdenmoor, Greyvast has, out of sheer desperation, tentatively embraced Soulmancy. Their mages, known as 'Tide-Weavers', risk memories and emotions to manipulate the pervasive mist, conjure temporary light, or even attempt to raise portions of their drowned heritage. This dangerous reliance on magic, however, has led to a slow erosion of their collective identity, with many elders suffering profound memory loss or emotional numbness. The kingdom is currently ruled by Regent Lord Kaelen of the Mist, who desperately seeks a way to stabilize Greyvast, fearing not only the encroaching physical decay but also the spiritual hollowness that threatens to consume his people.

They eye their rival, Valdenmoor, with a mixture of disdain and envy, believing their northern neighbors' strict prohibition of magic is a foolish path to inevitable doom, even as Greyvast risks its very soul.
